Case Study: Fire Alarm & Aspirating System Installation – Coca Cola Warehouse, Lisburn
- Client: Coca Cola
- Location: Belfast
- Project Scope: New warehouse construction
- Sector: Industrial
- Systems Installed: Fire Alarm, Aspirating System
- Project Completion/Duration: March 2025 – 3 months
Project Overview
Coca Cola appointed Atlas World to design, supply, and install a comprehensive fire alarm and aspirating system for their newly constructed warehouse in Lisburn. The new facility was built to increase production capacity and included a floor-to-ceiling racking system, requiring precise planning for detector placement and cable routing. The project ensured full fire detection coverage, integrated with the existing Drax Technology alarm management & monitoring software, and met strict industrial safety standards.
Installation of a fire alarm and aspirating smoke detection system for a new warehouse to ensure early-warning fire protection across a high-bay industrial environment.
System Design & Components
The systems were designed to provide early-warning detection and seamless integration with the client’s existing safety infrastructure.
Key elements included:
• Addressable Fire Alarm System – detectors, sounders, and control panels installed to provide full coverage of the warehouse floor and storage areas.
• Aspirating Smoke Detection System – Wagner aspirating system installed to detect smoke in high-bay areas and challenging locations above racking.
• System configured for networked monitoring, integrating directly with the site-wide existing Drax software for real-time alerts.

Challenges Faced
Working within a new construction site alongside multiple trades on a tight programme.
Installing detection equipment in high-bay racking areas, requiring careful planning for pipe runs and detector positioning.
Ensuring integration with the existing Drax monitoring system for seamless operation from day one.
Approach & Coordination
Atlas World implemented a well-coordinated installation plan, liaising closely with the client and other contractors to minimise clashes and maintain site safety. Devices were installed and commissioned in stages, with real-time testing to ensure full functionality and proper integration with the Drax system.
Outcome
The installation was completed on time, providing a fully compliant and effective fire detection solution. The warehouse now benefits from early-warning smoke detection, full coverage of high-bay storage, and seamless integration with existing safety systems, giving the client peace of mind and regulatory compliance.
Compliance Focus
All works were carried out in accordance with:
BS 5839-1:2025 – Fire Detection & Alarm Systems for Non-Domestic Premises
Atlas World’s engineers ensured full testing, certification, and documentation, providing long-term compliance and safety assurance for the client.
